Portland, Maine (August 27, 2024) – Summit Natural Gas of Maine (Summit) is honored to be named one of the 2024 Best Places to Work in Maine in the large employer category. The Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group, and BridgeTower Media annually recognize and honor Maine's best places of employment in small, medium, and large employer categories. This marks the sixth year Summit has received this honor.
"At Summit, our people are the driving force behind what we do, and being recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the sixth consecutive year highlights our strong company culture and the dedication of our team,” says Fred Kirkwood, SVP and Chief Customer Experience Officer for Summit. “Our team consistently goes above and beyond to deliver warmth and provide comfort to our customers and the communities we serve."
Best Companies Group determines the rankings using a two-part process. The first consists of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics, which account for approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part involves an employee survey measuring the employee experience, which comprises 75 percent of the total. The combined scores determine the top companies. The final rankings will be announced at an award program on October 8, 2024.
