At Summit Natural Gas of Maine, we understand that we are only as strong as the communities we serve. That’s why each year we partner with local charitable organizations, schools, industry groups and our employees to give back to those we serve and their communities with these goals in mind:
Support the betterment of the communities and people we serve, enhance relationships within the communities, and support business development and growth.
United Way mobilizes our community in ways that no single agency, individual, or government can to enhance the ability of people to care for one another. That’s why Summit partners with the United Way to raise money for charitable organizations throughout our communities. Employees can help by being an advocate, giving, and/or volunteering with the United Way. The company will match employee contributions up to $5,000 annually to the United Way Campaign.
Summit Natural Gas sponsors events throughout the year in the communities we service. Some of the events and sponsorships in 2017 included Chamber of Commerce events, leadership summits, golf tournaments, festivals and youth league sponsorships.
Volunteering in our Communities
In 2017, Summit Natural Gas began offering its employees volunteer time off in addition to regular paid time off. Summit Natural Gas provides each employee with 20 hours of paid time off annually to use towards volunteering with non-profit organizations. Throughout the year, employees used their volunteer time to work in youth camps, help clean up and prepare a summer camp for the season, teach in school classrooms, and staff booths at county fairs, among other tasks.

School Safety Presentations
One of our core values as a company is safety. Because of this, Summit Natural Gas of Maine developed a natural gas safety presentation for kids! The presentation is focused on educating 3rd-4th graders on natural gas and how to be safe using it. Core ideas include “call 8-1-1 before you dig”, safety around construction sites, and what to do if you smell gas. For more information and to request a presentation, please contact us at email@example.com, or fill out the interest form below.
